This official collaboration between Yael Mer & Shay Alkalay started after many years of sharing together life, thoughts, ideas and actually everything in-between. Mer’s main interest focuses on turning two dimensional sheet materials into curvaceous functional forms whereas Alkalay is fascinated by how things move, function and react.
Together they working as ‘Raw-Edges’ and share a common goal to search for objects that have never been seen before!
Since their graduation show at the Royal College of Art in 2006 they both have won the British Council Talented Prize in Milan & Paul Smith in Tokyo Their works have been exhibited at Johnson Trading in New York, FAT Galerie in Paris, and Scope Art Fair, Basel. They have their designs at the Design Museum collection and products being produced by Established & Sons and Arco. This is along side with few self production and limited edition pieces. Their work has been featured in many major design publications and newspapers worldwide. |
